Air Operations

10th Course for Planners, Executors and Controllers of Air Operations  (English)  29 November-3 December 2010, Sanremo

This Course provides air force personnel involved in the planning and/or execution of air operations with  a comprehensive, theoretical and practical knowledge of the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC), thus enabling them to apply air power within their legal obligations.

This Course is primarily designed for airforce officers, military lawyers, legal advisers and civilian defence officials who have an interested in this specific topic.

The Course design and method of instruction is such that no formal prior exposure to LOAC is required. It is, however, recommended that participants have a good working knowledge of military aircraft, aircraft systems and the weapons and self-protection systems they carry. They must also have an understanding of the technical jargon, associated with the environment, in the working language of the Course. Besides lectures given by an expert staff, a number of pratical exercises and case studies are also presented.

The Course runs at the same time as the Course for Planners/Executors of Naval Operations. It is offered in English and it is five working days in length. The two courses culminate in a joint exercise to plan an Air/Naval Campaign where the purpose is to illustrate how to apply LOAC when deciding on the appropriate action to take in an air compaign.

Course fee: 700 €
The Course fee covers all tuition, teaching materials, lunch and refreshments on all working days, a reception, a diploma, course photograph and Institute plaque.
