22th Course for Directors and Instructors of Training Programmes in IHL (English) 6 - 10 December, Sanremo

23th Course for Directors and Instructors of Training Programmes in IHL (French) 6 - 10 December, Sanremo

The course for Directors and Instructors of Training Programmes in the Law of Armed Conflict, assists Governments in fulfilling their obligations to disseminate, as widely as possible, the Law of Armed Conflict conventions and treaties they have ratified, and to include the study thereof in their programmes of military education.
The aim of the International Course for Directors and Instructors of Training Programmes in International Humanitarian Law is to help officers and military lawyers responsible either for the planning of Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) courses or for teaching LOAC within their armed forces.
The course is unlike any other in that it is specially tailored to the needs of each individual participant. Initial modules that address topics from a holistic, general perspective gradually become more specifically and practically applicable to the contexts in which the information is to be eventually disseminated by the participants of the course.
This Course enables those in charge of planning (directors) to analyse needs of participants concerning LOAC, define the objectives, develop the teaching programmes and show how to integrate LOAC into "normal military training".
Those who are in charge of the actual teaching (instructors) of LOAC are taught how to apply the programmes through constructive teaching practice and learning techniques.
The course is meant for military officers and military lawyers responsible for the planning of LOAC education or who are involved in writing doctrine, determining training requirements, curriculum development and designing course modules and materials for LOAC education within their armed forces and military officers and military lawyers responsible for teaching LOAC.
The course is offered in English and French and is held over the course of one week.
